The Drive: Mulege to La Paz?
The second part of my driving question. I have never driven south of Mulege. I am making the drive in a few days. I will take several days to drive
because I am visiting the towns along the way.
Any feedback from RECENT trips from Mulege to La Paz? Any feedback would be appreciated. Good places to eat, stop, see, get gas, whatever. Feel free
to include info on Loreto or La Paz but I am most interested in the stretches of roadway in between the major towns/cities. In return I will post a
trip report about my two week trip...and pix if I can figure out how to post them....Jon

There's been a fair amount of rain lately, so you should have a lot of green on a great stretch of road. Keep your camera on the front seat, and when
you get back, post your "thru-the-windshield" photos ( the ones you took when you were the passenger :0)

Plan to gas up just south of Mulege at the big Pemex and if you're there around meal time, try La Palapa just north of the Pemex on the other side of
the road.
You shouldn't need gas until at least Cuidad. Get gas in Cuidad Insurgentes at the new Pemex on the right after you make the turn to the south towards
Cuidad Constitucion. Do not get gas at the first station on the right as you enter Cuidad Constitucion. If you see the guys on the right grilling
chicken about half way through Cuidad Const., try one. Big, juicy chickens fresh off the grill !
And be careful of speed traps between Cuidad Const. and La Paz.

Just came through there south and north. They have the road all torn up just north of Insurgentes and detour you to a dirt side road for about a 2
mile section. No problems when we came home. There were a couple of sandy spots and we had to take it really slow because I was pulling a boat but
no problems. Headed south (not towing) we ended up right behind their water truck that instantly turned the road into slick, sticky, mud.

There is construction around Insurgentes, otherwise things are good. Constitution has some pretty eager police; watch your speed and don't make a left
turn from the center lanes, go to the right and then drive across the highway.
We like Constitution, you might want to get out and take a walk around town.
