What beauties they are! And now I know what those huge moth like creatures are that inhabit Baja also.They are HUGE too!! They kinda look like a cross between a humingbird/ butterfly/moth.

I think this guy is a Rothchildia -- has clear windows in the wings, is about twice the size of the Sphinx moth. I think his larvae ate my fire tree 4 years ago.

Ah yes, Osprey! Have had encounters with those also, afew years ago when I spent some time in Juncalito with Mija in the house we so fondly nick-named "the bug house".Now those guys are really huge!I would guess about the size of that glove holding the worm?The thing that concerned me about the sphinx moth was that it had that long "probe" on its nose and I really didn't know if it was for stinging or what!Now I know...Your moth looks very much like a bird at first glimpse, during flight.:wow:
