Hi Tom, any chance you can post a jpeg of the map, here? My pc Internet is down due to an MSN bug... and WebTV cannot open a PDF file. Or, perhaps
just list the points on the course so I can visualize the route.
Last year my son and I enjoyed the race, east of Hwy. 3 and north of Independencia. Chris took some good photos with a disposable camera! Look: http://community-2.webtv.net/boojum1/500

David it's basically the reverse of last year.
It starts in Ensenada to Ojos to Uruapan and Santo tomas and down the coast to Santo Domingo (this is new). does a semiloop using parts of last years
B1K. From Santo Domingo it crosses the observatorty rd and goes thru Mike's Sky Ranch to hwy 3 at K126. Up the Goat trail and back to hwy 3 at K78.
Off hwy 3 at K77 and back to Ojos and Ensenada (going back the way it came out) for the finish. 428 miles, 17 hrs to finish. Lots of good places to
watch. Pre-Running starts May 15th and Score has a dedicated schedule for which way to go on the Ojos to Tres Hermanos section because thats a start
and finsh run. I'm helping Brian Salley and his MC team. They haven't told me where to be yet. Probably some cactus garden.

TW do you know how the terrain is from punta cabras to Santo domingo on the 500 map. Is it sand , beach . I'm wondering how hard this section is
compared to the rest of the course..Thanks Paul

Paul it's mostly dirt roads. There's a very short rocky section as you enter Erendira and there may be a short beach run as you leave it, not for sure
until tulip notes come out. After that it's fast dirt roads with some gots-yaas. After Camalu it runs thru tomato fields. This is a fast section but
watch out for the wash outs and booby traps. If there's a crowd watch out, there not there to just roast hot dogs.
Are you racing?

TW, thanks for the info about the course. There might be a small chance of me racing. It will depend on getting the days off from work. I'll find out
next week and keep you posted. I know you'll be down there.....Paul

Paul, I'm planning on doing a little pre-running on the 500 course and check out pit locations from Colonet to El Coyote over the Memorial weekend. If
your doing any pre-running maybe I can help you.

TW, thanks for the offer to help with the prerunning. Unfortunately after the accident this weekend we will not be able to compete. My friend was
racing in the national D38 and was t-boned by another quad. His leg is broken and they will operate on Monday. I may try to get into the code race in
tecate at the end of July........Paul

Ouch, sorry about your friend. Any way if you come down for the race we'll be doing pits at Colonet, 2 at Santo Domingo and El Coyote. Look for a
silver GMC Z71 and a Maroon Ford F150 4x4.
