Police Look for Lion in TJ (Near Blvd 2000)
Insert your own joke here ...
Tijuana: City police are on the alert for a lion reported in a rural eastern area of the city near Is Presa Dam.
The city dispatched its Pegasus helicopter to the area Wednesday after a resident called in a sighting to the police command center, police spokesman
Ernesto Alvarcz said. Police and wildlife inspectors were attempting to track the animal yesterday.
"We're trying to determine if it's a lion or if it's a native species such as a puma or a mountain lion," said Marco Antonio Campoy, who heads the
Baja California natural resources branch of Mexico's environmental watchdog agency, known as Profepa.
A lion - the African type - might have come from a clandestine zoo in the city, or perhaps from a traveling circus, oflicials said. The city zoo in
Morelos Park does not have a lion.
"We're still on the lookout," Alvarez said yesterday evening. "But we think by now it's out in the hills somewhere."

Tank has the pretty white ones... they only eat narcomeat.
There's a small private zoo at Rincon Tropical (in the canyon between the Rosarito Beach Hotel going back to Blvd 2000) but they don't have a lion.
They do have good food for lions in the outside open pens though.
Rincon Tropical is a very cool local hideaway to grab a beer ($2) and relax. They have the petting zoo, huge free swimming pool, restaurant,
poolside cabanas, and even hillside palapas for overnight (not recommended this week).
