Anyone Driven So. Thru Mexicali Recently?

The San Felipe site strongly suggests
going
in/out at Tecate, due to Hwy construction,
delays, thru Mexicali.
Trying to aviod Tecate. More Mex milage,
fuel, mtns., etc.
Any opinions?

From San Diego through Tecate to San Felipe is 45 minutes faster for us plus I go through about 8 gallons less fuel that way. We're driving a F350 SuperDuty and 8 gallons is a lot of $$ these days. The tolls are only $10.50 not towing so it's been worth it.

As far as Mexicali, use the East border and instead of turning right at the first T, turn left, then right at second light then left at the next light and pretty much follow the signs from there. Brings you out quite a bit south of town and you will miss all of the construction that way.

U2U me if you need more directions.

Where are you located in San Felipe? We're 25 miles south of town at Playa Hermosa.

Haven't had a bad trip yet....

The construction is just past the costco so it is hard to miss it either way. They are building a bypass bridge like he one by the east crossing. If you don't go during the comuter time it does not take long to get thru. They have a cop who sits there and runs the light now and it seems to go better than it did before.
Good Luck
Mick

Getting there is ALL the fun!
Ok being here is fun to
