Road's End

Interesting read on the demise of the Rosarito Ensenada Fun Bicycle Ride. I put this in the political forum because I know it is old news. The interesting part is how the Mexican business model almost when out of the way to kill the bike ride. While in the US, tourist hungry cities would PAY to get an event like this in their town, the Mexican's squeezed every last drop of feria out of the organizers.

...and that guy Ron Raposa is totally detached from reality.

It's really odd that the organizers of the event are paying the cities for everything. They need to talk to Sal Fish and find out how he does things. It's my understanding that the major cities like Ensenada and La Paz or the businesses in the cities pay SCORE to hold the Baja races.

Looks like that just got a reprive

The state government has just pledged $100,000 to help support the Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride with promotion dollars and to help with security and logisitics. It seems they are beginning to realize what the have to do to keep these things going. The state is going to match dollar-for-dollar what the promotors spend, up to $100,00.
