Bus trip to Loreto
Thinking about a nice, fun, cheap excursion to Loreto by bus. Any ideas?
Taking the train from Union Station in Los Angeles to San Diego station, Red Trolly to San Ysidro border crossing, cab to the Bus station in Tijuana
then the ABC bus to Loreto and then camp out some place once down. Is it true some hotels have camp spots on their property? What are the names of a
few to stay at?

You can set up camp at the Loreto Shores RV park, thats the only one I know of, other nomads might have further info.
I prefer the Aguila bus line, it was a bit cleaner and the seats are more comfortable IMHO.

You might also consider the Rivera del Mar Trailer Park.
They have some camping spots that are secure and near clean bathrooms/showers for $5.00 US per night.
They have a very nice restaurant, internet, and laundromat.
No campfires allowed, but a barbecue is available.
The park is a short walk from the center of town, and is less than two blocks from the beach. Don't forget your bug spray, this hurricane will be
leaving lots of standing water, and the mosquitos are especially voracious this time of year.

I forgot about riviera del mar and its nicer than the other 2 options easy walk to beach and town centre

Riviera del Mar would be much better...one more vote. Love the restaurant for breakfast.

I've bussed the Peninsula a few times,
as you said, the San Diego red trolley
ends right at the border San Ysidro.
The other post suggesting the Greyhound
form San Diego which goes thru the border
to the Central Bus Station TJ, which is 5 mi.
or so east of the border. The only problem
you may have with the Greyhound is getting
your fmt tourist card, the Greyhound will stop
at Mex Customs, the same place you get an fmt,
don't know if the bus will be there long enough
to get and pay for the fmt, probably will.
If taking the trolley, walk across the border
get the fmt, if it were me, I would take a
Tj city bus to the Central Bus instead of
a cab, cab $18 dollars, city bus $.40,
there is a small bus station called 'La Liena'
about 1 1/2 blks. inside the border,
the city busses leave
across the street from la liena.
The bus to the station is 'Buena Vista'
I remember. Long distance busses
were cheap, not so much now,
bus to Loreto approx. $90 dollars
one way maybe 16 hrs

When I made that trip frm SD to Loreto I walked to a terminal a couple of blocks from the border and changed buses in Ensenada. Left TJ about 4:00
PM...21 hours overnight to Loreto. Wear something warm...I froze my arse off.
