Tons of Tuna & nice Dorado in Asuncion

Norbert seemed to have improved the fishing here...the big tuna and bull Dorados have moved very close into shore..within a mile of San Pablo now. The bite is wide open with wood cedarplugs and purple ones being the favorite lure. Tony and Cliff from Seal Beach Calif. zoomed down here in search of tuna and had the best tuna fishing EVER...they told me Juan was the best pangero in the world! (Yep,he's a keeper all right!) Juan nearly refused to take them out as they wanted him to guarantee them they would catch tuna.

They were astounded at the sheer numbers of fish...it's a very fishy place! They filled their coolers with juicy fresh tuna steaks and peeled it for home right after their trip. They sure kept our fish cleaner Juan Carlos busy for a couple hours.
We finally got a freezer thanks to an amigo who came down so we can freeze some to have at the big new years bash here! who's in?

It figures that the Dodos would show up right after I left. It sucked being limited to only catching: tuna and Tails untill my arms fell off, Grande Calicos cast after cast, Baraletti, giant bonita and Croaker after Croaker from the shore! If the fish get much thicker there it may become unsafe to go swimming or take the pangas out! Heck if the fishing gets much better you wont need a panga, just tie a piece of string to a stick and tie a medium sized rock to the string and then dangle the rock anywhere within 20 feet of the water :wow:

Work is just something I do to keep me buzy between baja trips!

From my wife and I's experience I think the rock on a string would work. Glad to see Juan putting everyone on tunas. He is the worlds's greatest pangero. Keep the cool fish pics coming.

Of course we will be there for the New Year's bash Shari. This time I
will even try to remember to bring out the party crackers. Still have them
tucked away in the Motor Home. Wonder if they will pop?

Has anyone tried fly fishing out in front of Mike's house? Maybe I'll get brave.

Croakers are being hauled in like crazy at the moment in front of the beach house! Hurry down Barbareno! Let's organize a nomad derby this year for New Years...last day of the year...before the hangovers!

You mean there is another kind of magic besides yanking on fish?

Barb and Redmesa and Shari of course you know we will be there. I like the idea of a fishing derby or tecate derby on the beach. That works for us just fine. Good looking fishing down there. Hope the dolphin stay until we get there. We love mahi mahi for sure. Good job getting a freezer, will be nice to have a sure supply of fish in case Tim can't provide for us this year.

Hey Tio
You know that Barb and I will do our level best to keep up to the supply
and demand this winter. I'm putting together an arsenal of weapons together
as we speak. Sounds like another excellent "crew" for the hoidays this year

Well Rodorado...let me tell ya...you are up against some stiff competition from the canadian contingent but knowing you as I do...I think you do stand a fair chance at winning the drinking contest. But practise makes perfect....also will have a gals guzzling contest so be forewarned ladies!
Since this Tourney is in the planning stages, no Juan isn't booked yet. You can stay in your usual digs I reckon as Gypsy's place should be done...OMG...I cant imagine you guys being neighbours!!!!!!
Lets all donate some prizes too to make it fun...maybe have a raffle. I look forward to all of you helping organize this....1st Annual Asuncion Nomad Derby.
