Cabo by Sea
I just got back from helping to deliver a sport fishing boat from Channel islands Harbor to Cabo. It was a good trip except having to wait out the
hurricane in Turtle Bay. We took on 3000 gals of diesel in San Diego, cost only $ 2.65 per gal. then another 1200 gal in Turtle Bay, at $ 2.25 per
gal. We had good fishing from off Turtle Bay to about Abreojos, caught 28 Yellow Fin Tuna, a few Dorado, some yellow tail, and 1 Wahoo. We were on the
sea for 7 days, including 1 day at Tortugas and 1 day at Santa Maria Bay. We arrived Cabo on wed. 10/15 and flew back on thur. $ 150.00 1 way. Cabo
has continued to deteriorate, they were selling crack pipes and coke on the malecon, I saw a guy smoke crack right on the Malecon. There was
construction everywhere, the poor little Hacienda Hotel looks like it's about to be swallowed by the condos. The boat was down for the Bisbee
Tournament, after that the owner will be moving the boat to La Paz, slip rent now in Cabo for the slip he has had for years is $6000.00 US per month,
new slip in La Paz will be $ 1200.00. I had a good trip and saw some of Baja from the sea, but I won't need to do that run again, at least not on
someone else's boat.

4200 gallons of fuel? How many gallons per mile does that boat get? $6,000 USD per month for a boat slip! What is this boat - the Queen Mary II?
Despite all that, I would give almost anything to be able to take a trip like what you did.

This is a $5.5 million dollar sport fisher, 78' long, capable of 26 knots. Traveling at 18 knots it burns 130 gallons an hour, plus generator, but at
8 knots it's only about 10 gallons an hr. It has 4 bedromms and 5 bathrooms. All systems are doubled with a 96 mile radar and Flir night vision
camera, it's pretty safe at night, another world from my 26' Striper. An eye opener was sitting in Turtle Bay, waiting out the huricane that hit Mag
Bay and having a 32' Tahiti ketch pull in. A great trip, but a little long.

I have been told that Cabo San Lucas Marina is the most expensive Marina in the world. $6000 US per month? Those guys have seriously way too much
money to throw away.....

$6000.00/Mo. Imagine what a charitable program for needy ninos could do with that kind of money... on the other hand, I'd like to think that those
rich guys donate to charitable institutions...

I've done the trip several times on my way to Puerto Vallarta. Cabo is a fuel stop and the rest of the crew always wandered into town for dinner
& partying - I ALWAYS stayed on the boat. I got over Cabo about 10 years ago - IMO the place is a total cesspool and sadly my beloved San Jose
isn't too far behind.
We did move the yacht on down to Nicaragua 3 years ago - now that was an expedition!
