Reports of 5 Childen Kidnapped from Rosarito School by Gunmen

This story is developing... please post more info

My neighbors say five children were abducted from their classroom this morning at a Rosarito Beach school. They say the children are young- like 7-10 years of age. They were all kidnapped.

That's all I have for now...

My neighbors are freaking out today (they have children in the school). Another bad day here in Rosarito Beach after five cops and a 15 year old boy were killed yesterday. Apparently the entire police force quit today.

My college age nephew also had a bad run in with Federales in TJ Wednesday night. He and two friends were buying beer at an Oxxo- the friend they left behind in the car had a very bad night. A truck of Fedearels pulled into the parking lot, pulled him out of the car and beat him severely, then kcked him when he was on the ground. When my nephew came out of the store- he was told to stand back and not interfere. After they were done beating and kicking him- they left.

My nephew took the friend home to very peeed off parents. The family sent the boy to live with family in Mexicali today.

Isn't this classic wartime psycho stuff? The people in power can't control the bad people- so they take it all out on the closest person?

Does your neighbor know this for a fact, was he there? does he know the names of these children?

Nothing but rumors but it has caused mass panic among some parents and also in Tijuana but it is not true. Because of these rumors and mass panic parents needed to pick up kids today inside the schools, no kids were outside waiting.

Just heard on the news that all these stories are untrue and someone just wanting to cause mass panic. Will stand by and see how this plays out...

Wow....

...These ever increasing reports really aren't much of an incentive to rush right down south of the border to spend some our diminishing dollars...

Lest someone jumps in here to mention US big city violence...we still don't seem to have roving bands of rogue cops and military types running wild through the streets...and not too many mass kidnapings up here, either.

It appears that Mexican border area towns will continue to be places to avoid for some time to come...

Never said it was fact. Yes they picked up their kids but didn't believe that nothing had happened. It was the equivalent of a "Columbine massacre" rumor stateside and parents calling eash other and then pulling their children from every school in town.

Halloween is going to be interesting. We had 600 kids last year- wonder how many will be allowed venture out this year.

What is left for Rosarito Beach? Eight people dead yesterday alone on the main street, six cops killed over the past 11 days. The police abandoned their jobs (which is how this rumor most likely got started) after a half dozen were killed this week. Children are being killed. Everyone is on edge. Parents don't know what to believe- there is NO ONE credible left to ask. The government can't protect the people and the peso is near collapse (along with a handful of other currencies). How does this end?

Just had a nother neighbor tell me it wasn't a primary, but a secondary school where it took place. When I told her it was a rumor gone wild and not true- she just looked at me sideways. seriously. They really believe this has happened.

I am not sure exactly what is true or not. Sometimes when hysteria sets in it becomes difficult to separate facts from fiction as the panic creates its own story. Parents show up at school to pick up their kids and see police everywhere so therefore the story MUST be true???

I went through this years ago in Argentina when the country was battling terrorism in the north and much of what is happening today here in Mexico bears a strong resemblance. Perception becomes reality...

I witnessed the same after the LA riots and Sept. 11. So unfortunate how effective acts of terror are.

The rumors keep coming... even the Mexican surfer dudes (ok they mostly boogie board) are talking about the lack of police on the streets. The Vigilios pizza delivery guy wasn't the skinny kid on a moped. This guy was 200 pounds and so nervous he weas drumming on the hot box on the back of the scooter while he looked out. He said he heard that something bad happenned to Mayor Torres. And so another rumor goes around-pizza to pizza.

true or not true; it's close enough to being real given the very recent past history.

I think the fact that Mexican families are so vulnerable right now is telling. It doesn't take much to start a rumor that leads to mass panic? Why? Becuae they know no one is looking out for thier interests, they see there is no security for them and they know the narcos are in full control. Anyone who doubts the narcos are in control only need look at the body count in Rosatrio this week and the police all walking off the job en masse. They make the Italians of WWII look brave.
