New campground South of San Q
We stopped by Jardines Baja (south of San Quintin) last week but alas, it was the one day they're closed for dinner. But a greater find was a new
campground/Mexican-style family playground that's under construction next door to Jardines that has a few large RV-size parking spaces and what
appeared to be a grassy area for tent camping.
A sign said "camping" but I couldn't tell if there are going to be hook-ups and showers etc, and there wasn't anyone around to ask. There are lots of
trees and it seems like a quiet, secure place off the main drag to stop for the night.
It looks like the park will be ready to open soon and it's called "Los Olivos". Maybe another nomad will try it out and give us a report, or will
learn more about the facilities.

With the closing of Gypsy's RV Park and Laura's Wet Buzzard Cantina gone at Cielito Lindo... this could be a nice alternative? I know the food is
great at Jardines if one wishes to not set up the camp kitchen!

Jardines is fantastic
give it a try. breakfast lunch and dinner. Try the Tex-mex breakfast with smoked pork chops, or for dinner the shrimp with fettuccine, has some fancy
name but it was delish .. Also great Happy hour. Beautiful place and the service is great too,k

Los Olivos Family park is a nice place to stay in either in an TV or tent camping. We have had lots of rv's and tent campers there. The place is
secure, closed in and quiet. We are located next door to Jardines restaurant.
Los Olivos has been open for a while now. There are hookups at the park. We are working on the hot showers now and they should be up and running
soon.
The cost for the night is $14.00. If you want to call ahead and make reservations you can call 011-52-616-165-6123 and ask or Margarita or just drive
in when you are in the area. There is always someone there.

Great spot, only a short drive off the highway on a very well maintained road and yet far enough to be very quiet and private.

Awfult Art stayed at that RV park very recently.
If we still have a camper, we would definitely stay there. Between Los Olivos and Jardines, they have created a real oasis.
We go by there often as Jardines is now our preferred place to stop on our way home from Bahia Asuncion.
Sorry you missed the restaurant---they do close on Mondays.
Since more and more people are discovering Jardines Hotel, they are hoping to build more rooms this year.

What Dave & Juanita did at Gypsy's (Cielito Lindo) was have an 'indoor camping' room... Big enough for maybe four tents or just set up your cots
on the sand floor.
The kids and I used it several times as it always was raining in San Quintin on our trips south. The next best thing was Laura's breakfast burritos in
the morning (and fish tacos at night)... $1.
An indoor camping room like that, or inexpensive 'rustic' cabins (like Camp Gecko used to offer) would be a hit with travelers... in wet or windy
weather!

Some of the locals told me that the San Quintin economy "depended" on the rains back before the road was paved through. They tell me that during the
rainy season trying to get through San Quintin was a very difficult proposition and many would be stuck for days, to the delight of local restaurants,
stores and hotels.
