TOTAL SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY FOR
MAYOR’S ACTIONS IN THE FIELD OF PUBLIC SAFETY
More than 90 representatives of civil society gave their full support to the actions of the city government on the issue of security. They
committed to participate in different ways in a common front against crime and psychological terrorism.
Playas de Rosarito - More than 90 social leaders, businessmen, professionals, farmers and artists from the city gave full support to the
actions of a city public security and pledged to participate in various ways in a common front against crime and the psychological terror caused by
rumors.
This last Friday October 24 on the emerging board convened by mayor Hugo Eduardo Torres Chabert, due to the collective psychosis that was
unleashed in the city where people used malicious rumors unfounded a warning that armed people were attacking the integrity of children and youth in
different schools.
After condemning this type of psychological terrorism, the Mayor denied the rumors and invited business, organizations, colleges,
professional and civic associations represented on the board, to work together to successfully confront together this type of crisis, committing the
latter to send a strong message of unity to the rest of the population.
"When people see that the leaders of groups, civic leaders of the community they want Rosarito and support peace, support operations and
are willing to cooperate, then we will have people cooperating, but very important the presence of all of you and they sincerely appreciate very much,
"said the Mayor.
The Mayor delivered a message of unity and called for calm, urging those present to maintain communication and unity so as not to get
carried away by rumors, but consult with the municipal authority, or the state concerned, any information, without foundation that is intended to
disrupt social peace, causing fear, disorder and chaos.
Among the actions of our local government, the Mayor is supporting the request of the State Preventive Police and the Mexican Army, who
are already in Rosarito with filters and preventive patrols, plus 50 police officers from the ministry who arrived Friday to investigate the recent
violent events in the city.
The main agreement was to add all the leadership of the mayor's own in a document signed by the agencies, colleges, associations and
social leaders to be sent to the state and federal governments, seeking more resources for public safety; similarly, agreed on an approach to the
public transport sector so that taxi drivers are part of the communication strategy in chaotic situations.
Mayor Hugo Torres Chabert stressed to the audience gathered at City Hall, thanks to an extraordinary remedy of 3 million pesos delivered
by the state government last Thursday, this week the body armor that requires the Municipal Police will be purchased, as well as 15 more patrols.
"We're the town that is most advanced in purifying our police in all Mexico, because we are the only municipality with evidence of
confidence to all players, we are committed also to equip and train the police to give more guarantees in carrying out its work, "said the mayor.
For his part, Aida Anchondo, chairman of the group 100 Women for Rosarito, suggested forming a network of citizens with e-mails and radio
(nextels) to join forces and react immediately to a situation similar to Friday’s and provide timely information to the population.
"We are all hurt, we know that it is an orchestrated campaign, we know that crime is not due to Hugo Torres being the mayor, this has
dragged on from previous governments, what we are looking for is an ability to respond to a common problem represented on you, Mr. Torres , who’s
grappling with it, count on us, " she said.
Felipe Enrique Munoz, representing the State Education System in Playas de Rosarito, offered to facilitate meetings with parents, school
by school or by grade levels, so that the mayor can explain the city government's actions and how they can assist in achieving the goal.
"We’ll coordinate with you to make that network with parents, with teachers, saying that what we appreciate, we are very grateful that you
have been a mayor who loves education, loves children and is not alone in this fight, "he said.
As a way to have the strong support for the municipal government, Erick Castellanos, representing the Ejido Primo Tapia, announced the
donation of 3 thousand square meters for building a new office in Primo Tapia.
From the business sector, Martha Mendoza offered to provide through the Canirac the food for police and military personnel coming to the
city in support of public safety, while Manuel Gonzalez suggested inviting the community to install white flags in their houses, as clear message to
the desired peace in Rosarito.
Some of the agencies present at the meeting were the Citizens Committee for Public Safety; Citizen Council for Transparency and Combating
Corruption; Business Coordinating Council, the Economic Development Advisory Council, the Committee of Tourism & Conventions (Cotuco), the
Association Rosarito Real Estate Professionals (APIR) and representatives and presidents of the different volunteer and social groups of foreign
residents in Rosarito.
Also,the presidents of the Ejido Mazatlan and Ejido Primo Tapia, pastors and representatives of the Catholic Church, teachers and members
of the artistic community, as well as members of the Rotary Club, Madrugadores Group, College of Engineering and College of Physicians Playas de
Rosarito, among others.
