Two police officers, four others are slain

TIJUANA – For the second time this year, Tijuana's doctors plan to
cancel nonemergency appointments to protest the kidnapping of a
fellow physician.
The Medical and Citizens Council announced yesterday that it would
stop work Monday. A well-respected kidney specialist was kidnapped
Thursday in front of his downtown Tijuana clinic, and the kidnappers
have demanded a $1 million ransom, family members say. They said the
victim owns a home in Chula Vista but operates a dialysis center in
Tijuana.
The doctors plan to carry out the daylong protest if their colleague
is not released.
The renewed protests follow weeks of violence as drug gangs fight for
control of major trafficking routes. The Baja California Attorney
General's Office reported six more deaths yesterday, including those
of two police officers.
Fernando López Pérez, a municipal officer assigned to the western
Playas de Tijuana area of the city, was killed Thursday night as he
and a fellow officer were driving on the free road between Tijuana
and Rosarito Beach. The other officer was wounded.
A state agent, Marco Antonio Vicencio Rojas, was shot to death
yesterday afternoon as he drove on the toll road between Tijuana and
Rosarito Beach. He had been working out of his agency's Rosarito
office.
Early yesterday, the bodies of three men, all shot to death, were
found in Colonia Libertad near the San Ysidro border crossing. A
sixth victim was found shot inside a car in the central Colonia
Obrera section.

sorry about the police officers. one day mexico is gonna have to drag itself outta the gutter and the little people will need to make a stand or else
all will be lost and we'll just have to build the wall to seal them all off....
is the free road any better?

This happened on Thursday at about 3:30 pm on the toll road right in the center of Rosarito.

Or we could just legalize drugs and take the profit out of the cartels' hands. Our drug laws are the root cause of the money-flow that causes the
evil.
I am speaking as one who does not use...not that it's doing me any good!

I agree. Competitive pricing and distribution would put these losers out of work. They would shift their routes to other countries if this were to
happen.

No. The root cause is lack of respect for and lax enforcement of drug laws.
