Okay, maybe my last post tonight for those who cannot get the live GPS map up... Trophy Trucks #8 and #97 have passed OJOS NEGROS and on the final 30
miles to the finish! This is about 10:30pm PST Friday.
Now remember, the racers are racing against the clock not each other, and each class is a seperate 'race' so there are several winners (one per
class).
The Class 11 pure stock VW beetles have yet to reach the halfway point at this time... So, the race will go well into tomorrow.
It was sure fun to 'watch' the race from home and listen to the Weatherman radio to 'hear' the action.
Bad booby trap at Erendira is causing problems...
Thanks Corky!
Have fun everyone!

Just listening to weatherman you can tell he lost his cool as the race progressed because of all of the bonehead questions he was asked and the people
that were talking over him. It was very interesting. I wouldn't want his job at all....
About 12:30 a.m. as I was driving home from east Ensenada towards centro it was getting very foggy. About 1/10 of a mile visibility in places.
I'm a little bummed the Volkswagen trophy truck didn't make it past Ojos Negros this morning. I really wanted to see it finish. There is always next
year.

Robby Bell/ Johnny Campbell win on their bike.
It's all on the Dirt Sports web pages, with videos at the finish line last night: http://www.off-road.com/dirtsports/cathome/catHome15.jsp?cat...

Why are the Trucks considered the overall winner when the Bikes have a better time?

i'm no expert here but if memory serves - the best time is the overall winner each race, sometimes it is a TT , class 1 or bike.
i think the bikes get it most years but didn't Post riviera TT get winner overall last years 40th run to cabo?

As I mentioned before... it really is several races going on at the same time... Every class has a winner (fastest time) and there are many, many
classes.
Open cc Motorcycles usually have the fastest time and are the true 'Overall' winners... But, the 4 wheeled racers are more popular and easier to see
the difference between them (bikes all 'look the same' to the armchair spectator). Trophy Trucks or Class 1 unlimited open wheel racers are usually
the fastest four wheeled overall winners.
So, there are fastest 'overall motorcycles' and fastest 'overall race cars' mentioned as two distinct types of off road racers.

The bikes nearly always win overall time, yet the trucks get all the attention. They keep making the course more "friendly" for the trucks with many
high speed sections where they can really make up time at 120+. Think how much harder the bikes have it with no one to navigate and their marigh for
error much narrower.
