Cabo to Tecate+overnight at La Villa de San Quintin Hotel

Great trip back from Cabo. Wonderful two weeks at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort. As always, great Resort, great food & five swimming pools. Headed north on Monday after checking out. Favorite stop at Todas Santos for great food. However, restaurant wasn't open until Noon. so across street real estate lady says try ?????. "down one block turn left, go half block. Go in gift shop, and walk through and you'll enter a restaurant patio. Had great reasonably priced breakfast!!!! (getting too old. names don't last long) I recommend this place. Kitchen was the cleanest I've seen in some time. Then on north to La Paz. Driving very carefully approaching LaPaz in the four lane for the traffic cops that like to catch "speeders". didn't see a one???? Next stop was La Lay at Cuidad Constitution for several days of food supplies while spending several days at our friends home in Juncalito. Then on north Wed. stopping at San Quintin for our favorite motel, to find a NEW ONE to us called La Villa de San Quintin Hotel. What a shock!!!!!!!!! Probably more of a motel though. Protected overnight parking. Wi Fi or ethernet connection. Water softner system. Sat. t.v. Presently 32 units, though more planned. Run by Riccardo Nelson & his sister from TJ. Both speak perfect English!!!!! They also own the adjoining restaurante. Folks, it's a "GOTTA STOP" place. Our price for two w/queen bed was $32.00 plus a $150.00 peso deposit for the return of the key & t.v. control. Room equipped with heat/air wall unit. Room was super quiet (they way I love it) Paved parking. They did this project up right!!!! Located on east side of hwy 1 Almost across from the Chavez Motel. MP Km. 192 About mid town. Phone number for reservation is 616 165 1800 or FAX 616-165 1415 or (villasanquintin@hotellavilla.biz)
Then north next morning, to Tecate. First time for us on the border crossing. About 20 minutes later, we found HOW TO FIND THE LINE, and aboutf a ten minute wait, to be sent to Secondary for NO reason??????? That day, almost everyone was being sent to Secondary?????? They didn't find a thing, and we were on our way Danville, to spend the night.
Anyone who has made this drive knows that "this is the only way to go north or south in & out of Baja Norte, as far as we are concerned. Peaceful drive from Ensenada north to Tecate. Tons off new bridges arroyo's all the way to Cabo either just done or about to be done. One section of highway from El Rosario south for maybed 10 to 15 miles is WIDE with bike trails on each side. What a shock that was.
thought I was back in the states for a while. Can't wait for my next trip down.
Felize Navidad!!!!! to all our fellow Nomads. Got to visit with fellow Nomad Barb & Ed Vandenberg on trip south. Didn't connect on trip north. Looking forward to meeting more of you in the future!!!!
