Don't know, but the web site has a picture of a guy on a waverunner. I though BOLA was (or is becoming) a marine park . . .

....stay tuned for that. What we heard initially was that a 500+ slip marina was approved for the town harbor. Then someone mentioned that there was supposed to be a town meeting on the issue and that before the marina goes in, they need the town's ok first. So who knows...gotta ask around.

Have only been by that proposed resort once, and that was a while ago, but they already had "Grand Opening" signs along the roads...but, it was far from being ready! Guys were still pouring cement and things like that. There were not many rooms there, and I guess the buzz is that it's mainly a way to get people in so they can sell lots to them. They gotta haul all their water and provide their own luz (electricity), so it will be a challenge to say the least to provide a comfortable spa experience, not to mention very $$$$

There is a link on Doc's news page(campgecko.com) to a survey about whale sharks in BOLA. It seems they are studying the "economic viability" of whale sharks in the bay - looks like they would set up licensed tour operators a la Scammons/grey whales. Doc also says dredging will begin shortly on the marina.

Stay tuned . . .

Re the Hotel,

It was still not finished when we were there several months ago but it is very nice, two-story place. There are a number of hotel type rooms and around 10 - 12 self-standing rooms directly along the beach that I was told were going to be time-shared. They were working on an ornate cobblestone drive. It is very attractive but everyone says that the norther bay gets much more wind than the south. I guess if you were in the courtyard you could avoid wind. I think I read the prices were somewhere $100/night but don't quote me.
