Road to Scorpion Bay

Hi,

My friends and I are hoping to go to Scorpion Bay. A while ago I found a website saying that the road from C. Insurgentes to San Juanico is passable by a passenger vehicle. Is this still accurate?

Have anybody driven the road between Scropion Bay to La Prisima recently? Do I need a high clearance 4x4 to drive there? We currently plan to have a normal sedan.

Was there about three weeks ago and there are hundreds of cars that drive those roads each week.

I drove south through S.J. and Insurgentes on Monday last week. The Insurgentes to La Purisima highway could use some help in places, but it's passable by passenger car, and the northern road from La Purisima to S.J., while paved for the last/northern 8 miles into town, still has what's usually a water crossing - which you might want a little clearance for, depends on the water level though.

There were an incredible amount of large dump trucks (bobtails, not semi's - and I lack any more appropriate term/s for these today) heading north up the graded road from La Purisima to S.J. at around 5pm that day.

No problem with road...

Here in San Juanico at the moment and there is no problem coming in with a normal, two wheel drive vehicle. The only thing you need to watch for is where the water is flowing over the concrete road in the arroyo about a half mile as you turn off the pavement. It is filled in with large rocks and you will have no problem if you take it slow. There are many small vehicles that do the road everyday, so you'll be fine. The road North from Insurgentes to the San Juanico turnoff has a few small pot holes, so just keep your eyes alert!
