Not Baja but awesome bass
Just got back from El Salto Lake, near Mazatlan. In 3 days of hard, intense, dawn-to-dusk largemouth bass fishing our group of 4 guys caught and
released over 450 fish, maybe 20% over 4 pounds. Lots of 5s, 6s and 7s with four or five over 10#. Unfreakingbelievable. This
needs to be on your bucket list.

Santiago,
You should know better than to post a fish story without photos!

When I make my bucket list Santiago will be on it. The plan is to 'catch and release' him 450 times.

Really, the only way to do it.

Figure about $1850 including flights from the left coast. Not cheap, but I met a guy there who has been over 20 times. He says you just adjust your
life style.

el Salto
Thanks for the link Santiago. Not cheap but worth it I'm sure.
I wonder if there is any shore fishing options for an unguided visitor? Living here in Baja Sur, i've often thought of jumpng on the ferry with a
couple of rods and going to see what's up over there.

Fished Obregon (by Guaymas) in the 70's - it was pretty much what El Salto is now - many good memories! I wonder if that place is still puttin' out
the bass...

I have been to Lago Huites twice. Way up in the mountains outside of Los Mochis. 3 hour van ride through the mota country. A beautiful area, and 100
bass a day. Fished El Salto in'02. I stayed at Angler's Inn. Awesome fishing. Less #'s, more quality big fish. Great top-water action. Not a pretty as
Huites, but a shorter, safer trip. Hopefully I will make it to both again soon! I've heard stories from a old friend that fished Obregon and Bacarac
many years ago. No news of either anymore.
