Border closed Tuesday (2/10) for Protest

Both the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa traffic crossing lanes will be closed by protestors on Tuesday Janaury 10.

One would hope the Mexican people planned the blockade to protest their bleak economic outlook and rampant narco-crime crisis. One would hope the Mexican people would step up this time and say enough-is-enough to living in fear.

... but, the blockade Tuesday will be held to protest the high import fees the Mexican Governemtn charges to import a car from the USA into Mexico. Go figure.

(These usually are held in the morning and break up around noon)

are there enough protesters in TJ trying to import a vehicle that a blockade will materialize?

or are the organizers just planning to attract whatever bored, unemployed riff-raff they can and let it snowball?

These people are idiots. Their objective is to disrupt everything and everybody who couldn't care less about their cause. The government is the bigger idiot for allowing this.

DENNIS says "These people are idiots......"
I say if more US citizens got their behinds into the streets when our gov set to deregulate the banking industry or invade another country, perhaps our treasury wouldn't be raided by Wall St pirates nor the world be on the brink.

When things are wrong in the world, there are 3 types of people: sheeple, sheeple-complainers, and activists that care.

Yes we can!

Fight the power!

Don't be a sheep!

Don't complain, do something!

I agree with Dennis on this one- why protest Car Import Taxes when you could protest something meaningful like for an end to violence and corruption?

I agree with you that Americans don't protest enough. We watch on TV and blog onthenet- but don't get involved further if it comes to leaving the house.

There is no shame among these white collar thieves- the bankers. There's nothing wrong with a good public shaming-

Gotta post some more photos of Baja sunsets and offroad trips first. A few photos of your dog/cat wouldn't hurt either...

According to today's Ensenada paper, the protesters did succeed in blocking Otay.

I went through Tecate, Tue. 11AM, and there was a longer line than usual, 45 minutes. I guessed it was from the nonsense.
