For those not having seen it, the author of this article posted her link to the original article (from the O.C. Register) in this thread - along with
a thank you to the Amigos and Nomads along the way that "coached" her on how to potentially avoid mordida payments....

Good old Marla, what a charmer. How fair and even handed you are.
Editorially returning to the scene of the town that your consistently raked over the coals with second hand misinformation gleaned from bulletin
boards and Blogs. And to think that you were engaged in that behavior just 12 months ago. How quick some forget and how quick some wished others
would forget.
Now you write this piece, (agree with Dave on this point) like the last one, from your home in Long Beach without even as much as setting one foot
into Playas de Rosarito.
Just so we all keep playing along with your fabricated story - Yeah, yeah you went to Playas de Rosarito and you got to see the human suffering
brought on in large part by journalistic sensationalism. ...and what were you most concerned about, the people? NO! The social damage? NO! Your
friend's, your daughter's or your personal safety? NO!
Your number ONE concern was a way to increase the depth of Baja's economic problems by having three people stay for 1/2 the price it would have been
in any hotel in the US while moaning over the fact that you thought you were ENTITLED to a rate of $29/night. This yarn of yours matches the spiteful
material you published last year. When do you ever get over yourself?
Of course, to give the story TOTAL REALISM and the right amount of anti-Mexican bias, why don't you tell a quaint story about how you got stopped by a
cop - that's a new one! After all you needed to have the perfect, if not ironic ending, to what may have been a crime free weekend fable, but thank
gawd you remembered reading all those postings on Nomad - stopped by a TJ cop where the heroine Marla saves the day. I must say, it brought a tear to
an eye.
There are reasons YOU should always cross the border ANONYMOUSLY, assuming you ever do cross.

Read the article - she uses Mike Overcast as an "expert". I guess that should be a red flag...

Anyone wonder what kind of business an 80-ish woman has down there?

Do you guys know Marla?
She is a Nomad (posted the link herself in another thread)... and was a regular on Amigos de Baja before Nomad... Marla has attended Viva Baja,
Pyramid Resort Baja Book and BBBB events in the past, and has promoted Baja travel.
Perhaps the cops should stop the false arrests instead of asking Marla to keep quiet about a real event?
She does travel all over Mexico... and has traveled once with me, Debra and others in the Viva Baja van to BBBB #2 in Guadalupe Canyon. See http://vivabaja.com/bbbb2 where I posted photos she took... some used in an OC Register article she wrote.
Here's Marla with lot's of us at Viva Baja #2, with other Amigos who wore orange for Wendy/ Mermelada (Mrs. El Camote):
Top row: Mary Ann, Jeans, Graham, Michelle, Suzanne, Neal, Mike Danley. Bottom row: LN (Ellen), Barb, Marla, and Mermelada (Wendy).

Very interesting---
Will the real Marla please stand up? Is she the faithful reporter only retelling her experiences or is she the evil spokesperson who smears with no
justification.
Almost sounds like there are two different people being talked about here. Curious.
