Flying grey whales!!!
I am still planning to fly to Guerrero Negro on Friday Feb 27 to Monday Mar 2.
I have a rental plane scheduled. The trip will take about 2.5 hours flying time from San Diego with 1 stop at San Felipe to clear customs.
The plane is very fast but also expensive to rent. So I need some Baja Nomads to go with me to share the cost.
I am flying the plane again next Saturday. I'm thinking that if I don't have at least one person by then I will take myself off the schedule.
So if I get 1 person to pitch in $2-300 I will fly down there.
It will be very cool and if you drove it from the border it's a good 10 hour drive.
We will leave about noon on Friday and be there by 3-4pm. Very easy and relaxing.
I don't think I can take that drive again. It sucks!

Fishy,
Doesn't sound like you are getting any takers. Maybe you should offer to fly to San Ignacio Lagoon, perhaps that would tempt more people. Offer
people a choice of GN vs SI, SI will probably win. You spend all that money to fly down, you should go to the pretty location.
Also, don't know if you are aware of it, but there is 2- or 3-times/week air service from Ensenada to GN for I think something like $150 one way.
Likely cheaper than flying solo.
and regarding your opinion that the drive "sucks,"... it doesn't "suck," it just takes a while.

No it sucks!
Ha ha. No it doesn't suck. But if I drove I would need to do it in 2-3 days and that does suck.
It's about 6-7 hours from my house in Costa Mesa to San Quintin and that's about all I can take in 1 day so that means 2 days driving each way.
The reason I picked GN because I'm trying to meet up with friends that live near there for a party.
I've been to San Ignacio. The lagoon looks about the same as Ojo de Libre. I think there are more whales at GN.
Ya, GN the town is a mess because of the salt works but out at the lagoon is very beautiful.
And the town has plenty of decent hotels and restuarants.
If the point is whales GN is better.
Easier and more convienient.
But San Ignacio is a pretty little town.

Many more whales at Ojo de Liebre. The big attraction in San Ignacio has always been that their whales are "friendlier". Plus several outfitters have
set up permanent facilities at the lagoon. They fly folks down to the airstrip at the lagoon from San Diego. But it costs an arm and a leg. Besides,
Shari won't be partying at San Ignacio.

fish buck - i turned down a request to take some people to mulege end of March from San diego. i just have a conflict.
do you want to talk to them? i'll send you her email via PM here.
they'll split your plane, you can fly them to SIL for a side trip to whales even.
SIL has GN beat for whaling, fins down.
if you think that cherokee 6 from 1st Flight is fast you need some comanche time!!
