Just in Time for Spring Break
Sunday's L.A. Times published a Front-Page article on Drug Cartel gun buys in Mexico complete with a Graphic side-by-side of a .50 Caliber round used
by the cartels next to an anemic .223 round used by most of the Government troops.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
That should work out well for the Tourism.

When, exactly, is spring break? If any part of it is now, this place is hurting from a tourism point of view. Yesterday in La Jolla Beach Camp,
there were three spaces occupied

Spring breakers scheduled for San Felipe were detoured to Palm Springs CA.

I can't report on spring break action from Rosarito Beach yet. They had half the main drag closed for cleaning all day satuday so it was hard to tell
if the miles long traffic jam was because the town was busy or because they chose the busiest day for locals to close the street.
I haven't seen the morning beach joggers I usually see when the youngsters are in town. My nephew said a lot of gringo kids were passed out on the
beach fully clothed early saturday morning in the toursit zone- so maybe they are here. They usually take beach walks though and pretty girls in
swimsuits sort of stand out around here.
What's not here is the spring break marketing promotions- since Mr. Iggy used to do the marketing support. He's still stateside hiding from
kidnappers and you know he would be down here making money this month is he could. So that tells you something about the real business climate here.

that military checkpoint just past the Ensenada toll booth northbound isn't going to help matters. We came through southbound last night at about
6:15 -- the back up was at least an hour long...through the toll booths.

Geez. Between what bajabound just reported, and the fiasco down near San Ignacio, sorta makes me want to rethink driving to Cabo next month. Any
reports of other major delay points? Just don't feel like losing a 1/2 day of my trip waiting in line.
Ah, for the good old days. Couple of years ago, we headed back North from Cabo on the weekend of Calderone's election. There was not a single military
checkpoint open. I guess they must have redeployed the troops for election security. But that doesn't account for the Stateline shack being closed,
too. I always thought that if I ever really wanted to ransport contraband, I should wait six years.
