Playful Baby Whales
In San Ignacio just a few days ago ---always a great experience
Just a couple John and I took this time.
Looks like blowing bubbles 
Hi There!
Making a whirlpool.
And to think, this lady came all the way from France just to do this!
She said it was well worth the journey and I agree.

great photos Diane...that baby is still very young for this time of year...you can tell by the snout length...probably one of the last born and will
be still awhile before he is ready to migrate north.
While most of the adult males and newly pregnant females have already passed here now...the mom's and calves will start to pass by very soon now.

Lovely photos, Diane. Along with Shari's remarks about how young this calf is, I have always found it amazing that the mama whales have encouraged
their young to make contact with us humans, and yet just weeks later, these marvelous creatures must take an arduous journey where killer whales await
them. I've always thought that grey whales must have superior intelligence for them to basically tell their kids- humans nice, killer whales bad.

killer whales...very bad...did you know that killer whales eat the tongues out of the baby whales...a real delicacy.....ewwwww...although tacos de
lengua are among my favorites too!!!

Ya, killer whales eat the tongue... sometimes only the tongue and nothing else, resulting in a tongueless carcass floating in the sea... pretty
weird eh?

Pretty sad, actually. Every time I've had the thrill of petting these "little" darlings, deep down inside, I felt a chill knowing that fate awaits
many of them. Just have to concede that mother nature knows what she's doing.

Nature works in bizarre ways. There is always a reason in nature even if we don't understand it.... or at least thats what I would like to think. But
ill never look at shamoo the same again...

I agree! Killer whales are very cute but I guess they're not called that for nothing...

Killer whales are not known for their kindness...i have seen them ruthlessly play ping pong with a sea lion for a long time then just leave it and
move on when they get bored with the game...dont even eat it...just torture it!

Thanks for the nice comments about the pix---I hate to hear about the killer whales, but nature is not always pretty.
