Fishing for Whales

I went flyfishing today, hoping to catch a whale. And they were biting.

After a long fight, I got it to color, ready to move in for the release.

But the release was tricky; notice he rolled over and had my flyline wrapped around him:

Yes, I use very heavy fly line when fishing for whales, one originally custom made for catching French Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarines on Flatahead Lake, Montana (also a great place for hunting the Black Helicopter).

Is that a big hawser I see wrapped around the animal? Looks old and weathered enough to tell us he's dragged it around awhile. Maybe he'll show himself when there's rescue people and equipment nearby? Great shots. Do you know of any injured whale reporting service you could Email or call to give the location?

Great photo but man that sucks for that poor whale. I hate this the most. When sealife gets caught in manmade gear.

He did look old and weathered, and it looked when he breached as though he was missing the left tip of his tail, poor old guy. I don't know of any marine animal rescue folks around here-- too bad.
