They think I have swine flu!

Background.

I'm in Ensenada on April 21 to renew my FM3.
About a week later I have some "flu-like" symptom. I go to the doc and he says no swine flu, just a regular little virus.
Hooray!
I good to work. All week I just have a regular little virus.
My coworkers know I go to Mexico. Word gets around that I have swine flu.
I get to work and a coworker tells me that if I come to work with swine flu I will be fired. I ask about regular old flu. No answer.
I get with my union safety man and ask him. No answer. He goes to Human Resoures and asks.
He comes back and they say I must go to the dispensary and be checked out.
I go there and they send me home. I cannot return to work until I get a note from my doctor saying I don't have swine flu.
They pay me for 4 hours and now I'm home on the couch. I'm peeed about losing 4 hour's pay. Plus the little flu I have is almost gone now.
Turns out that a whole bunch of people turned me in and were afraid I had swine flu. They were scared.
I'm not in trouble or anything. But I told my boss that I don't know when not to go to work. If I can crawl to my truck and drive in I go. Period! That's how I have done it for the last 20 years!
I don't want to get an attendance diviation and I want to get paid.
If I wake up in the morning I go to work. No excuses!

Good work ethics are hard to find these days, but you seem to have one. Hope you feel better and that it is not the swine flu, dam those pigs!

Thanks.
The strange thing is that the company didn't really have a clear policy about this.
But I decided it's sort of like when I was in the military. There is no calling in sick. You must report to rollcall. And then tell the sargent that you are sick. He will send you to sickcall at the dispensary. They will determine if you go back to the barricks or back to work.
But if you don't tell the boss you are sick and someone sees you sneeze you might get in trouble!
