Palo Verde runway?
I know it's near Santa Rosalia/Mulege. Is that the big paved runway that I think is called San Bruno? Whenever I fly over that big paved runway it
looks abandoned.
I'm trying to get to San Bruno or San Lucas.
For yellowtail fishing.
Don't worry Mulege guys I will come and drink with you!

The big paved runway south of Mulege is Palo Verde. It's not really near anything but the only paved runway around. Too bad they don't pave Serenidad
since that's the one everyone uses.

bucky i have hitched into town north from Palo Verde to Santa Rosalia, it was quick to get a ride but the walk from the armada's office to the HW is
about a mile or more it seemed.
you have a lot of Qs - you should join BBP and yak with us at the forum.
it's the best place for the latest correct pirep info you seem to need. Are you up on eAPIS procedures yet? may 18th is right around the corner.

Ya, I thought that was it.
Yor're right Mike. I guess I need to break down and join BBP.
But I pretty sure I can find Palo Verde airport without their help.

finding airports in baja, any of them, is easy. getting lost on that skinny peninsula means you are felony dumb.....
and that is without the crutch of GPS and moving maps which today makes it FOOL proof.
in the early 80s and before, many of the VORs didn't work most of the time except loreto's and la paz.
you had to navigate using charts and dead reckoning like we learned in ground school.
i haven't pulled a chart out in flight for a decade or more, even my approach plates are digitized overlays on my multi function display.
but - you DO need to be up on procedures. that's where the BBP and AOPA et al shine.
eAPIS is only one example. it goes official on May 18th unless it gets extended which the BBP is agressively pursuing - thanks to 4000 members and
their dues to feed the lobby.
so - have you registered for eAPIS?? do you know what it is, what it means, the consequences for not complying??
