Loreto

Went on a quick unplanned run from BOLA to Loreto to try to get in on the Dorado bite this mid June.
On the way back from fishing our skipper asked us if we wanted to go see about some ladies. We declined. Later on we went to have a meal at one of our
favourite steak houses. It was there that were were asked if
we would like any "Nalgaritas" We were also being HARD PRESSED to go check out some new " hotel that caters to the "Sportsman" I have not been to Loreto in about 8 years.
Has Md. Vicky moved north?

We saw more fish than we caught. Pefect conditions. The sea was like glass. We had live bait, 3/4 of which died due to a clogged bait tank that someone neglected to rid of the leftover bait the day before. we took on so much water we almost tipped. Went out on Arturos with a last minute skipper
named Antonio Aguiar. The boat had a nice newer 90 hp Honda The boat was a standard sized panga. The boat rods
were Ugly Sticks with Avet single speed reels, that really worked right. Hell we had brought our own as we are used to seeing old beat up Penns. Hooked up all Dorado save one on a purple plastic skirted Tuna feather. Only caught one large bull the other two Dodos were small. Caught a small yellowtail too. Only caught one fish on live bait. We would leave the troll caught Dodo in the water and flyline live bait, but no takers. the fish hung around but would not bite bait nor jig. Saw a couple of Marlin that were not interested in pulling on our bait. Also hooked two sailfish that came unbuttoned from our small live bait hooks. The skipper stayed out from 6:00 AM to 3:30PM. He was not afraid to burn fuel looking for fish on the troll.

Wow, what a day!
Ya, billfish need an extra sharp hook to stick into the bill. Otherwise they'll shake it.
