New motel in Bahia Asuncion
Does anyone know if the new motel is open yet in Bahia Asuncion? If so, what is the name of the motel? Is it El Mission? Any contact info available
would be appreciated.

No---it has not been finished and there is no work going on---there are LOTS of rumors as to why

Your best bet is either one of Shari's rentals, or the Hotel Verduzco in the middle of town.

The hotel looks fine. They are still putting the finishing touches on.
Give it a try and report back in.
And then go see Juan and Shari.
And go fishing with Jaun.
And then tell us if the yellowtail are there yet.

the hotel project was stopped last year and the guy who was building it also built a giant house here which is up for sale too...no plans to continue
it that we have heard. Too bad cause it looked kinda cool and was supposed to have a pool, restaurant, bar etc...which would be neat. But it was
planned for 42 rooms which is kinda funny as there are not many more tourists than that who visit in a year!!! just isnt that amount of traffice
here...yet.

It looks that way and it is really a shame as it is right at the entrance to town.
And across the street there were plans for building this.

The plans were really beautiful, but only the sign is there---the plans were made when many were quite sure there was a European Buyer for all the
ejido coastal land in that area.
Shari has a variety of different rentals and there is almost always vacancy at the only hotel in town---

The Rusians were coming to Baja to buy all the EJIDO land?
How were they planning to accomplish this

The plan we heard, was that there was an actual offer to buy all of the ejido land by the coast from I believe, San Pablo south to ---gees I do not
remember how far south---Shari probably remembers. But it was huge and most of the area is deserted, beautiful beaches.
Anyway, I guess the offer was there and there were lots of ejido meetings in town and many of the members were ready to spend their money before they
had it. But the deal fell through.
It is a bit of a problem in our area because so much of the land does belong to the ejido and not everyone in town is a member of the ejido. Some
families have one person who is a member and the rest are not. So every time one of these big money things come up, it can cause problems even if it
falls through.
It is like the continual disagreement between the coop and the ejido over San Roque. For selfish reasons, we hope the disagreement continues so we
can still drive out and enjoy San Roque.
The latest we heard from one of the ejido leaders was about negotiations regarding some mineral rights inland around the southern end of the
lagoon---big money, again. We have not been there, so we have not heard the final outcome of that one---Shari, have you heard???
Small towns are great, but no matter what country they are in, they do have their own set of local politics, disputes, and stories. Always good to
just keep listening without comment.

OK, I"ll follow your advice and keep listening without comment!!!
Latest rumour is that some big international company wants to rent the land instead of buy it and they are talking VERY big sums of money to go to
each ejido member...many are making big plans for all this money...I'll believe it when i see it.
