Propane vehicles
I'm shopping for a new "Baja Mobile" and have a line on a propane fueled camperized van. Can anyone tell me if that would be a good idea for Baja?
I'm just not sure how far these propane vehicles travel on a fill up. It would have to be alot better than a gasoline engine due to the fact that
propane is not as accessable as gasoline in Baja.- I would be spending three months or more mostly in Baja Sur.

Propane's cheaper than gasoline (for now) and in Mexicali their putting in stations to fill cars with propane. Bought 45 liters of propane today
(about 20 gal) for 318 pesos. magna would have been quite a bit more than that. Don't know relative milage - propane vs gasoline.

Barbi, back in the real world I had an old farm tractor that ran on propane. I can't say much about mileage, but there was never any carbon in the
oil, never turned black. In about 5 years I never changed the bujias (spark plugs) they looked as good and performed as good as new when I sold the
tractor

Thanx guys
I'm off to the "Big Smoke" (Vancouver) tomorrow to shop for my new Baja rig. All your input will help in my decision. I'll try to get one that looks
presentable enough to park in your "courtyard" now and again Tucker....something that won't cause the neighbours concern...Tee! Hee!

from what i understand there is two prices for propane, one is for heating and cooking use and the other is for vehical fuel. my friend bought a
propane powerd van and when he tried to fill it up in mex it was more then gas. he didnt notice the sighn stating the two prices. this may have
changed as its been a few years

I have a Moho that runs on gas and propane, the propane gets more miles to the gallon, but, it is 'gut-less' we only switch to propane when on a
straight-away, it does run clean.

The Dodge Concourse?
It was 20 feet long. Too long in the stern to go tripping through the arroyos. And "Mega" on gas. Soooooo, I've just arrived home from Vancouver
after purchasing a Dodge "Getaway Van". V8 318. In excellent condition. Yayyyyy!!! The search is over! It's been pampered and owned by a mechanic
and I got a great price on it. I was looking at GMC vans but then this one came along and it's a beaut!!! Thank God!! Two days in the "Big Smoke"
in this heat, with the three pups as well...SHEESH!! Almost too much for me! Now I just hafta figure out how to put the Porta-Bote racks on it!!

No can do JR
Nope, can't send any pics yet as I don't get it over here to Victoria (on this island I live on) until Sunday.
But thanx for the Congrats!!
Actually, this van looks almost exactly like Jack's, only it is in better shape and newer... I think. Even the colour is the same. Giggle!!! I hope
to get it a little higher off the ground. Either bigger tires, or play around with the suspension.......We'll cross that bridge later tho'...Then
there will be more questions to be answered.
