Associated Press
July 21, 2009

TIJUANA, Mexico — Mexican soldiers have arrested a suspected drug trafficker in the border city of Tijuana who was carrying jewelry, narcotics and $3.6 million in cash.

The Defense Department says Luis Ibarra belongs to a cell in charge of making and trafficking methamphetamine for alleged drug kingpin Teodoro Garcia Simental. Ibarra was detained Saturday.

Garcia Simental has been waging a bloody battle against his former bosses in the Arellano Felix drug cartel.

Not that it matters to the story but, I wish these papers would indicate dollars or pesos.

I don't know how many legal prescriptions for amphetamines (Adderall, Dexedrine, Dextrostat) and methamphetamine (Desoxyn) are sold every year (that information, if available, is not easily gleaned), but I'll bet the legal pharmaceutical companies made a lot more than $3.6M USD.

If we've learned nothing else from Michael Jackson hysteria, it is that only the poor need use bathtub drugs, because the wealthy can just get the good stuff from their local pharmacy.

You're probably right, Bill, except when the story comes from a translation. Then they just print the number without translating it.

So, are you complaining about the high price of "The good stuff"? Only the poor need to use "the bathtub drugs"

...oh boo-hoo

Your comment has no relavance here. The legal pharmaceutical companies are not waging war in Baja with each other, shooting u pth place and turning once thriving tourist areas into ghost towns, tanking the local economy.

Congratulations to the Tijuana Police!

I'm very sorry--had I known you were the relevance police, Jeans, I would have sent in my manuscript for editing before posting it.

I think most people understood that my point was about the disparity of access to drugs between the poor and the not-so-poor. If the wealthy can have "the good stuff" with no legal ramifications, then why shouldn't the poor have access to the same drugs? This would put the illegal Meth Makers out of business and save a lot of Tijuana Police officer's lives.

Hey,

I gotta complain about this thread. When was the balloting conducted for this guy to be named the "TOP" meth seller?

I demand a recount.

Since Cabron has made his Know it All declaration it must have been pesos. That is even more reason for me to want a recount.
