Puerto Escondido for Sale

Looks like FONATUR is giving up on the Nautical Ladder and selling Puerto Escondido.

BoLA gets a fintastic new road.
One of the best, yet fickle, point breaks in central Baja gets murdered.
Anyone surprised :?:

At least the harbor facilities now are beautiful. It's vastly improved from our first visit there 3 years ago.

A very Beautifull Place.

1967 was used as a camping place for anyone who could make it down the "Old Road" then Americans and Canadians would not clean up their trash so where moved up to the Trailer Park.

Then some Asians came in and started catching and canning yellowtail and selling it by the Case.

Then it was sold to a French Company who put in all the improvements that you see now.

Then The French Co. was kicked out and it has set still for the past 10 years or so.

PE

Calling what the French put in at PE improvements is ludicrous.

They're selling the whole tamale, or should I say all of the "assets", and Merrill-Lynch is acting as broker. All 8 of the "finished" ones plus 2 that are incomplete.

Mazatlan & Topolobampo in Sinaloa; Puerto Escondido, La Paz and Santa Rosalia in BCS;, San Felipe & Santa Rosalillita in BCN. San Blas in Nayarit; Puerto Peņasco in Sonora. Which one am I missing...?

You can read a really good article from the surfers' perspective (written in May) about the failure of that huge boondoggle, with an emphasis on the disgusting mess they made at Santa Rosalillita, at http://espn.go.com/action/news/story?id=4142118

It'll be interesting to see how they manage to sell it all off, who will buy, and what will become of it all...

To answer Crusoe's question, yes they are still charging to launch trailered boats as of last week. I forget what it was I think between $15-20. The restaurant was open upstairs and I have heard good things about it.
