Mango Festival

Summertime in BCS means, among many things, heat, empty beaches, tuna, mangos and festivals, and Todos Santos just held its annual Mango Festival over this past weekend. A great local event that I can highly recommend to anyone that happens to be near the area when it is on. This, the 2nd year of the festival, they added great events including a fantastic dance troop from La Paz that had many a woman furious and all the men drooling, off road racing out in the cactus, and horse racing in Las Praderas. And back from last year was the buckets of ice cold modelos for 10 pesos. Also back was dancing in streets to live music until 3:00 am. Both personally tested and better than ever.
I managed to snap a few piccies of the horce racing held on sunday.

The Racers

I picked the Grey Mare and lost my shirt. I should of looked more closely at that stunning bay with the viejito jockey. They race stirrup-less and are tied onto the back of the horse with a rawhide strap and just a blanket for padding. The "viejito" of course is not tied on. Glued on is more likely.

My pick

Notice the strap tying the rider to the horse.
This gorgeous Mare did win 2 races but was not enough in the end.

Acquaman, As usual, awesome pics!

I had some mango with chili and lime yesterday, but I sure wish I could have been in TS instead.

No worries
