western rattlesnake

This rather big one (and really fat too) was right outside our front door. According to my Baja reptile guide its a Croatus Viridis, the western rattlesnake. makes me glad we have antivenin in stock! The buggers do not rattle until you really pester them! I'm pretty sure they would not rattle until you stepped on one, probably he would strike 1st!

That one doesn't look like he's too interested in being docile.

Hey Pops....don't you want this guy on a skewer?

Bet he'd taste better than that OWL. :P

(me thinks pops hasn't had dinner yet..... )

just curious, what's the usual action after finding one of these critters near the house, (after cleaning one's self up) kill it or not?

In our area of eastern WA it's kill it.
