Yet another FM3 question

Now that we have our FM3s do we need to get them stamped each time we enter/exit Mexico? If so, where, when, why??? We use the old border crossing at Calexico/Mexicali. Thanks again for the help.

Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

If your flying for sure. I flew out and was given a have document by immigration that they say I must turn in to
immigration when I come back. I have heard they are requiring a stamp driving in our out, but do not know where to stop on the way back in that TJ nightmare
of a line. Going in would be easy enough to have in stamped.

Hopefull I am not "hijacking" this thread. I have an FM3 and will be driving down in my RV through TJ and flying home from Loreto. Do I need to get it stamped and go through all the BS at the immigration by secondary as I cross? In April I will do the oppisite, fly downto Loreto and drive the "Gringo "Express back home.

I have never had my FM3 stamped when driving in or out of the country during the five years I have had it, and have had no problems when presenting the FM3 when flying into, out of, or within Mexico.

I believe that technically you are supposed to have them stamped when entering or leaving. If I am driving I don't have it stamped unless I know that I will be flying back down. If you cross the border driving north then fly back you can get hassled for not having the exit stamp. If you are just driving they have no way of knowing if you have crossed the border or not. If I need the stamp I have just had them stamp it at Guerrero Negro. They have always been very accommodating there and most of the times we haven't even had to get out of the truck.

Howard, Like so many others I never had mine stamped. But when I got my FM-2 the guy in Santa Rosalia insisted I do. So on the way back in I asked the gut to stamp it for both directions. He was happy to do it though confused. After that I never had it stamped. But if you're going to fly out it really isn't to much trouble to have it stamped coming in and may help smooth the trip out.

Never had mine stsmped at a land crossing either. When you leave from LTO you will fill out the exit document. If you return by air you will present it on arrival. If you return by land dont worry about it.
