Lopez Mateos Report

from BBP

Joe from the Sams took my Miguel to Constitucion yesterday where another friend took him to Matancitas "Lopez Mateos" via POV the dessert route. First hand report is the runway will need a couple weeks to dry out. Half of the cannery buildings were destroyed. Virtually all wood frame houses fell from the wind. Over 1/4 of the population lost their homes completely. My house lost sections of the roof and lots of water damage as well as all my 50 foot plus tall trees were blown over onto my and my neighbors houses. The three wood houses directly across street from me no longer exist. As of this morning there is still no power but water was restored yesterday. Some remaining homes still have landline phone service but cell phones are dependent on return of power. We were in Arizona dealing with Mexican patients when Jimena hit and are now hold up in Yuma waiting for the road to open between Santa Rosalia and Loreto. From Loreto to La Paz is passable by road. We'll be going with the Flying Samaritan's 28 foot diesel bus and can haul items to the hardest hit area on the way to Lopez Mateos. Our trip will take us through the San Diego area so can load supplies.

Contact the flying sams if you can donate.

Maybe she's passed through - only takes 7 hours from Phoenix. I could pack up some stuff for the bus if I know where/when.
