I saw this citizen's report in AFN. It looks like it may have been somebody doing aerobatics with a smoke generator.

they found the plane just north of the island of Todos Santos. No record of a flight plan. No mention of people. It was called in by a motorist on the toll road who saw it go down.

Hadn't heard about a crash, but do know they are blasting rocks south of here. Hope no one was hurt. Sounded like a sonic boom to us.
