Baja Kahlua

A recipe with a twist.

4 cups water
4 cups brown sugar
2 cups grain alcohol or vodka
1/4 cup Damiana
1/2 cup fresh coarse-ground coffee, chocolate flavored
1 tsp vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean
1/2 tsp red chili powder or 1 whole red chili
--------
Slowly heat sugar in water to gently dissolve.
Cool for 1/2 hour.
Stir in fresh ground coffee.
--------
In a one-gallon jug combine alcohols, vanilla and chili.
Add the cooled sugar-coffee mixture.
Cover the jug tightly and store in a cool, dark place for 3 weeks; shake daily.
After 3 weeks, strain the coffee grounds.
