FBI helps rescue female student kidnapped in Baja
A previous thread asked if Baja Norte is safe for single females. More safe if you don't do things like meet men in a night club who may follow you
home. This lady was very lucky her parents called the FBI instead of paying the $200K ransom. IMO- It's about time the FBI got involved in this
hugely under-reported cross-border problem.

This could take some time

I'm glad this ended well. But the fact that the victim has residences on both sides of the border leads me to believe there's more to this story.

Paul Harvey would be proud.

Yeah, that the victim lives in both the U.S. and Mexico. That's the 'more' they already told us about.

Hoping we're on the same wavelength here, it just seems to me that the vic may have assisted this in happening. If not consciously, but rather maybe
we could assume that she is from a family that has citizenship in both countries. A stretch would be that the family was affluent. Or plan B is that
she was involved in smuggling. I don't wish to appear to be insensitive, but the headline of the story may have been inflamatory by virtue of it
characterizing the victim as a San Diego student.

The fact that the victim was a US citizen makes this a story. Without that fact, the FBI wouldn't be involved and this incident wouldn't have made the
paper. The Tribune doesn't much care about what happens to Mexican citizens.

She is apparently a Psychology student at USD. A very pricey school. She probably drives a nice car too- obviously not taking the trolley. She drew
a little too much attention to herself hanging out in TJ.
The guy who knew where she was being held in TJ was captured in San Diego and ratted his co-conspirators out. Maybe the FBI got as far as doing a fake
money drop in this one. But on which side of the border?

According to the story, she wasn't just hanging out in TJ, but had a residence there, too.
