The first time I had my granddaughter down there she spotted him on a liquor store window and cracked up at him every day!

Another year I was down there for Christmas and the liquor store gave me a calendar for the upcoming year (guess I might be a pretty good customer). I've cherished it ever since and every year I print a new annual calendar, attach it to the picture and it still hangs in my home office. Makes me grin every time I look at it.

My favorite tequila store in Baja. PLUS, there is a branch in Puerto Nuevo!

Tomar is "To drink."

pistar [pis-tar’]
article & verb transitive1. To pound with a pestle; to extract the juice of a thing.

Perhaps you'r right if this a reference to a bottle:

to extract the juice of a thing.

Amber stuff on the right is Mezcal. The quality can run from high to low. That in the picture is probably low.
Neither is worth taking across the border, even if it was free.

Guess I'm showing where I'm learning my Spanish from if pistiar is "very slang"...I hear it all the time with my hubby and his family. I won't share some of the other words they use (and in mixed company)!

I tell my husband that his daughters are going to grow up with a pretty vulgar Spanish vocabluary...but at least they'll be bilingual, huh?!?!

I tell you, I'll have to get one of those models for my cunado...looks just like him!

"Pisto" is used throughout Central America, where it means "money". "No tango pisto", means "I don't have any money".

"Pista" is an entirely different word. It means a trail, path or a road. "Autopista" is "freeway".

"Pistear" has different meanings in different countries. In Mexico it means to hang out with your buddies and drink.

I'm guessing that Don Pisto is used in the sense of a guy who hangs around and drinks. Kind of like a porchmonkey.
