IMSS - Instituto Mexicano Del Seguro Social
Does anybody here, living in the TJ/Rosarito area, have the Mexican healthcare insurance offered by the government?
I'm going to get it and I think I want to use a Rosarito office instead of a downtown TJ office to apply. Is there one in Rosarito? I'm having no luck
finding info about office locations on the Inet.
Any info/opinions about IMSS insurance will be appreciated.
Thanks

Not that I'm being any help here, but just last night on the Daily Show, they had a piece about Americans living in Mexico and taking advantage of the
IMSS coverage. I think it was shot down in Progreso, interviewed a Doc, as well as an ex-pat woman and showed a rather empty waiting room at a clinic.
You can probably Google it.

And for their sake, I pray God they will never have to use it.

I tried to get this insurance here in Loreto. After getting the royal run-around for two weeks I was told no. No reason, just no. I am in excellent
health so pre existing conditions were not a factor. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Paz. I can see why they had an excuse to turn me down but my wife has no pre-existing, takes no meds, low blood pressure and cholesterol and is a
Mexican citizen. When she asked why they just told her they don't need a reason.
I think the world is run by C- students.

Doesn't make much sense. I know a few folks on the mainland who have it. Maybe some of the folk in Baja just have an attitude about granting
foreigners access.
