Tecate-Ensanada post rain
crossing at Tecate next week and would love to get a report on the detour following the last rain. I heard it was rough and dusty before the rain.

When you arrive at the Downtown Guadalupe Valley go straight and take the new paved road to the Tijuana-Ensenada free road and turn south to Ensenada.
You will miss 90% of the construction. Rememeber at the Guadalupe Valley don't cross the Bridge, go straight. This is really a great NEW paved
road. I drive it every week.

Didn't know about that road---sounds great. About where does it join the Tijuana-Ensenada free road?

Going from Ensenada towards Tijuana.....join the free road at the south side of the San Miguel toll plaza and drive about five miles to the top of the
hill. That spot is called El Tigre or Pozo Del Tigre depending on which sign you're reading. A new road, the only road, heads off into the hills
toward the south east. That's it.
The last time I went across there, the road was full-on Baja dirt. Really rough. I'm looking forward to trying it now.

Don't know if I have the courage to strike out on the unknown. What kind of shape is the detour in?

Dennis,
going north, which one is the San Miguel toll booth?
The second one I presume?
Going up the 27th and like all the easy driving I can muster.

Ed...you're going through Tecate...right?
The San Miguel plaza is the first one north of Ensenada. About a quarter mile before the gate, the road heads off to the right. I'm sure there's a
sign. Go on that road to the top and..........like I said.

About halfway between la Mision and Ensenada. The road is marked 'el tigre'.
