DISH (again).....sorry.........

Okay, so we have the DISH receiver(tuner)for Rosarito (purchased in San Diego) and now need the dish itself and installation. Have been told that person in Rosarito wants $500 for installation! This sounds nuts to me. Anyone out there know where we can buy a satellite dish in Rosarito and someone who can install it for less????:?:

Are you looking for a "dish 500" dish with the dual lnbs and the sw21 switch? Actually no matter what you are looking for a good place to go is the "dish doctor" in San Diego, 3287 F st. 619-239-4882. He has all kinds of TV stuff and at very reasonable prices. Hope this helps, Larry

Did the outfit that sold you the dish not give you any coordinates for pointing the dish? The final tuning is done on your TV screen in Menu "dish pointing". Is this also an issue with actually mounting the dish or have you done that?

Edit for OOPS. Didn't read carefully enough...

Did they not offer the dish itself? They are $25- $50 on Craigslist San Diego

We purchased our receiver for $100 and the dish for $50 from our Dish guy. Self installation.

Pesos or dollars? If it's dollars, you're right. It's nuts.

I don't think she has a dish. She needs one and to have it installed.

Buy a Dish on Craigs list or E-bay then contact Parabolicos Limon in Rosarito. North side of town across the street from the new Bancomer, Office Depot They will install for about $70 if you speak Spanish-$100.00 to $120.00 if your a dumb gringo and drive up in a Mercedes.
PS dont try it yourself unless your a real do it your selfer it is a MAJOR pain in the burro. Those guys at Paraboloics Limon use radios one on the roof one in side dialing it in. Trust me it's well worth just paying someone to do it.

If I go to the place where I bought the receiver, can I buy the dish and ask them for coordinates for Rosarito? Will this get me in trouble? I would love to self-install, but not sure if I can. There are several floors between our unit and the roof...........

Nope you'll blow your cover and they will try to charge you for a new instalation then you'll have a bill down here and one in the States. Dont be a doo doo Bird. When you call all you have to give is the Serial # to turn on the unit. Then you only pay about $5.00 a month.
Duh...

Do not pay ANYONE

It is NOT a pain in the butt. I have a satellite signal finder and a compass I'll loan you. I'll tell you the coordinates and instructions for mounting your dish...or, you can get it from the internet.

Piece of cake.

Guys Ran into our Satilite Instaler today here is his information. I bought the VIP 622 Dish w/ DVR on e-bay for about $350.00 last year with free ship. When it came I simply called DISH and told them I was adding an additional room they in turn took the SN and activated the unit. Then I bought the High Def dish on e-bay for about $70.00 and brought the second unit south. I asked around and some of the Ex-pats gave me this guy's info and he installed the Dish dialed it in and he wired the house for about $100.00 Coax included. Here's his info:
CISCO-SAT
Francisco Garcia Installer
From USA 011-52-1-661-616-0779
Long distance 045-661-616-0779
Cell 044-661-616-0779
Nextel 152*15*2208
Now forget about that Pirate stuff trust me it dont work, It costs more in time and the think goes down all the time.

Thanks, Mexicorn. I have gotten to the spot of getting the dish itself. Already purchased the add'l receiver (for that extra room...) and had it activated properly. Will check Craig's List for an HD Dish.
Thanks to all of you guys for your input! I really appreciate it!

Yea that climbing on the roof and bolting stuff into concrete is not my fortae-
Nor is drilling holes in concrete brick and running and capping coax-
I dont consider myself rich by any means but somethings are better done by profesionals- Like changing my oil for instance I esed to do it when I was a kid but now I just pay someone to do it.
That guyt I mentioned in my first post at Limon parabolicos lost his brother in a rooftop fall a few years back at San Antonio del mar-

Hi Dennis sorry to say hi today-
Hows thye weather in Punta Banda?
Raining up Rob-me-a-rito way-
Did you check out Margies website today? That Campo Reynoso stuff is too close to home.
