Telmex and Dish Network
Has any one heard of Dish Network coming to baja? We were at Telmex in San Jose del Cabo on Monday. All their computers were showing movies and TV
shows from Dish. They had up large posters showing Dish Network, the Dish and Receiver. Not sure if you can get it now or what? Can't remember the
price but it's cheaper than what we are paying.. Just wondering if any one has any information. Could be like Sky where it's 80% Spanish.

Dish is available in Mexico but currently only in 2 states on the mainland. They plan on expanding but who knows when. It's dirt cheap but VERY
limited. Google Dish Mexico for more details...

It looks like just another use of the "Dish" brand, kind of a legal corporate counterfeiting.
They do the same thing with HBO, FOX, ESPN. Same names, but different programming specifically for the Latin American Audience. Looks like this
service will be little different from SKY.
Kind of like the Mexican Walmarts and Home Depots.

Want to clarify, you WILL NOT be able to get "Dish Network" through TelMex.
You will be able to get "Dish Network Mexico." Although they may share the same logos, etc., it's a completely different product intended for the
Mexican Audience, designed to compete with SKY.

I waited for 9 weeks to get MegaCable installed in La Paz and finally gave up on Thursday (1/7/2010) and went down to the local TelMex office to order
a line and Infinitum ADSL. 5 to 10 business days to install, no deposit and only I needed a passport for ID. I didn't even have to show the pesky
"proof of address" utility bill everybody seems to hold sacred down here.
We specifically asked about Dish and it IS now available here in La Paz and the basic package is 149 pesos/month - less that $12 USD! Basic+ is only
199 pesos and you can see the channel line-up at www.dish.com.mx. A lot of the channels are in Spanish, but there are a fair number in English with Spanish subtitles. CNN International is in
English without subtitles.
