Mountain lion prints near our house!
We were working on getting our road fixed yesterday and I used the blade on the tractor to smooth out the road. So this morning I saw these prints
leading down into the arroyo!
Unmistakeably a puma! Hope he/she is far away now!
I read they can range up to 25 miles in one day! First sign we have seen of one here. Maybe the storm disturbed its patterns.

I would imagine they are all through the mountains in that area. We see them in O.C. all the time. I watched one for an hour fishing a private lake in
Santiago Canyon several years ago. Beautiful animals. Hey, this is 500 posts, do I get another star? Yup, thanks!

there's lots of those critters up north where we live...keep your dogs and cats inside or they'll disappear; i speak from experience..

Astrobaja-One Easter week, a long time ago, we were hiking from Meling Ranch up to Blue Bottle Ridge. We camped in one of the meadows (La Grullia, I
think)for the night. One of the ranch hands shot a deer which we feasted on. The carcass was left up to drain some more and the next morning we found
it was shredded by a mountain lion who left many prints behind. That cat was very close to all of us and no one saw or heard him! Amazing animals.

Similar to Vince...
...in my highschool years, a buddy and I decided to go camping up at Yosemite during xmas vacation...
We found a great overhanging rock to protect us from the falling snow, made our campfire, stowed our food in a pack hanging from a tree limb nearby,
threw out our sleeping bags and sacked out for the night...
In the morning we awoke to find MANY large animal prints in the fresh snow ALL AROUND us!!!
The prints belonged to a neighborhood BEAR, out for a nocturnal stroll for food! He didn't bother our 'stash' but elected to tear the top off some
guy's convertible down in the parking lot who'd stored his food in the back seat!
It was really creepy knowing that the bear was probably sniffing around our sleeping bags as we lay there...
As we cooked some breakfast, a small skunk also made a visit, crawling out from a small hole in the rock where our bedrolls laid - perhaps he was the
reason the bear left us alone! 
According to my clock...anytime is \'BAJA TIME\' & as Jimmy Buffett says,
\"It doesn\'t use numbers or moving hands It always just says now...\"

SWEET! That's a nice print. I'm not a bit surprised to see that they are there in the parque. With the number of deer to prey on, it makes perfect
sense.
Astrobaja, I've been following your posts about your troubles with your road... sorry to hear you have so much work left to do. But this find is
certainly a bit of a silver lining. (As long as the big kitty leaves your livestock alone!)

cool pic! I bet the horses were nervous!
I was amazed to see a puma ramble down to the beach at dusk one evening in San Roque...that may have been the reason for our kitty disappearing too.

Shari, actually 2 days ago the horses were VERY nervous, we just shrugged it off to them not being used the the much louder sound of the water in our
arroyo.
Horses are a good watchdog!

horses are terrified of big cats and will always let you know when one is around. Actually, our human instinct even kicks in. When I lived in a remote
area of Vancouver Island, I would go berry and mushroom picking in the woods and for no reason, the hair at the nape of my neck would stand up and I
would get a prickly sensation all over...CAT ALERT!!! so I would pick up a big stick and prepare to do my "look really big" act.....you would never
hear those buggers either but somehow KNOW they were there.

We were up running the Rubicon,up by Tahoe.We had stopped on the way up and got some pizza to munch on for dinner.After we finished dinner I set the
remaining pizza on the seat of my Jeep and we went to bed.During the night a bear came into camp and took the pizza box with the pizza in it out of
the Jeep.My son was wandering around the next morning and foud the box about 20 feet from our camp.The box had 2 holes from the bear biting it and all
that was left was the pineapple from the pizza.We did not hear a thing that night.
