From the license plate I assume that was not a CA SUV when first sold. 4TZS would have been registered in 1999 or 2000.
Good looking Toy everyone I know that has one really liked it.

Thanks for the info TW, I didn't know how to read the plates...
Not surprising it's from out of state, however it has no rust. Bought it from a kid in Sunset Cliffs San Diego who did not know the meaning of
maintenence as all the fluids were low. I lowballed him ($1500) and he took it, however I had to have front brakes and a waterpump (not cheap) on it
and some other minor items, but I'm still ok in it.
I surrendered the plates and Title on it and converted it to "Off highway" (green sticker) for our purposes. This will keep the registration current
without CA. insurance and smog. Besides we will trailer it to Baja and then back again if it needs to go home for maintenence.
That's how we brought this one back and forth...Owned this one for 7 years and only put 2800 miles on it... |

I went the other way around....traded in my 1991 4runner for a 1966 bronco. Actually I just decided to leave the 4 runner inthe states....

Really nice setups ..... wish I could buy one... looks like so much fun... never got to do it like that... that's cool... gas guzzling and all that,
blah, blah, blah... what cool toys you guys get to have.. off topic a bit, but..... also love to watch those guys race too.. unbelievable what you
guys do with trucks today, really!!... my dad's was a 1951 Chevy pickup... he carried a spare carb, and things like that.. never thought to worry
about any body stealing... wasn't nobody around that I can remember when young.. guess I got lucky there.. but, the rigs... oohhhh nice
what a good deal... its killing me!!!

put new springs in the Rear to get rid of that sagging butt. I put in a set Old man Emu's and just brought the 4runner down last month...awesome ride.
I also added Old man Emu torsion bars, shocks and a steering stabilizer...400% better and 1.5" taller without cranking up the torsion bars which will
make your rig ride like a burro with a gimp.
I have a 1991 by the way,.

Where did you get the trailer, are you happy with it, etc. It looks like it would handle my little Kubota L39 very well.

It does sag a little bit however in this shot it is tied down with chain and binders...

It is a 20' Car Hauler (not normal utility trailer) with a Dove tail and ramps stored underneath.
Yes, this trailer works very well. It has brakes on two axles which are rated 3500 lbs. each. I use this for my buisness as well by carrying lumber
and materials on it. It was custom built for me by Carson Trailer and then converted to a TRIPLE axle by Laroy at B&L Trailers in San Diego
(recently retired and kite surfing in Baja).

When I replaced my rear springs on my 91 4runner with only 125k on the truck, the new rear springs raised the vehicle 3". Springs are Cheap!
Mine are OME and increase the payload 400 lbss. Both sides run about $180, including shipping!
I know longer have a saggy buuuttt. Every other 4runner I see in this era does. If I park next to one with 19 y/o springs it is very obvious which has
new springs and which doesn't... You will realize that yours are sagging.
Also no more rear end bottoming out, on bumps!
