Nice report - he goes right to the jugular!! Just the important stuff. Mike what do you think he means by "The long one is soft gravel any more."?? The long runway once got an asphaltic coating, I can't tell whether he is saying the surface is good or bad.

Ken, he means the surface is bad. The thin layer of asphalt that they put down many years ago has turned to crumbling gravel. The dirt runway is huge, hard and smooth, I don't think anybody uses the old runway any more, at least not more than once.

dt got it right on.

i haven't used to old crumbled RW in about 10 years, and that time was because it was after a heavy rain and the graded strip was badly rutted - hadn'r fixed it yet.

the old one was almost down to aggregates even back then - useable but not kind to paint or props.
i expect today it is really bad. - emergency only.
they work hard to keep the dirt one smooth and compacted.
last report is yes - they had ice.
as far as gas for motos - no idea.

Any pictures? They seemed to be working on a couple projects last time I was there. Wonder if anything new has popped up.

We were through there in October and it had improved over the previous couple years. We camp ($5 per person) and they were rebuilding the palapas at the north end of the place. Bathrooms still down by the cabanas. The people seemed to be making a real effort to bring this place back and I'm glad to see others saying nice things (I don't fly, so I'll ignore the runway issues!).

Never saw anything for sale but cold Tecates - ice for sale seems like it would be a stretch. There is a barrel on a platform by the runway that I saw a local fill his truck up with but never inquired about gas.
