Popotla- Baja Village Has Become Smuggler's Launch Point
That couldn't have been hard to figure out. Where did they think all these pangas landing in San Diego loaded with drugs and illegals were coming
from- La Paz???

I can certainly understand the "hiding in plain sight" aspect in Popotla, but where's our Coast Guard once these boats head North?

If one looks through binoculars, from Popotla, and looks nothbound, there is a Coast Guard vessel anchored what looks like between
the Coronado islands and Imperial Beach.
How the pangas get by, I don't know!
Perhaps the pangas have an electric trolling motor to sneak by the Coast Guard. But I thought the US had some kind of radar as well as sonar.

I live a little closer to there. I think what you are seeing between the coast and the Coronados is the stationary docking buoy. The PeMex tankers
hook up there to the underwater gas pipelines to the power plant.
question: Are these pangas a one way trip? Do they beach them and run for it, or do they drop off people and return south?

Federal agents thwarted two smuggling attempts involving drugs and people in San Diego County waters within eight hours of each other.
About 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Customs and Border Protection agents on patrol in a vessel found a 25-foot motorboat registered in California that was docked
in Mission Bay and appeared abandoned. The agents boarded the boat and found 997 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $500,000 in the
cabin and hidden under the floor, officials said.
About 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, agents aboard another customs vessel on patrol saw a 36-foot motorboat in the ocean about two miles off Leucadia in
Encinitas. As the agents approached the panga, the vessel tried to escape but was stopped after a brief pursuit, officials said.
Aboard they found 12 men, four women and a 16-year-old boy, all from Mexico, who were taken into custody for trying to enter the country illegally.
Both vessels have been seized, and the illegal immigrants are expected to be re- turned to Mexico.

Glad to hear the folks of Popotla have got a growing (so to speak) business. I admire industrious people. Does a ride to La Jolla cost more?
Do you guys know the Rosarito highway pinhead Jesus is actually a warehouse used to store the pot grown in the area just to the east? Jesus was built
by the cartel to thank God for all the American potheads. True story - really.
