Maybe I need to register my MX cell phone?
A neighbor of mine in Los Barriles just sent me an email... she is saying that I will need to register my MX cellphone before April or I will loose
the service... I have had the same number and phone for a couple of years and have not heard of the requirement?????? comments/experience?????

Yep. We have been getting the message, too. It is a federal law that was announced a few months back. Guess we will have to comply.

This is in addition to having registered it when we bought it a few years ago? I know then we registered it by calling Mexico City.

It might not be a bad idea to lose registration and change your number once in a while. I used to get tons of calls about absolutely nothing starting
early in the morning. My phone usage was in the thousands of minutes/month. Finally I stopped registering it and lost the number every once in a
while, now I get only calls from people I need to speak to and it's because I changed my number.
You do not need to register the phone-not registering might save lots of money and time.

If you havent been getting the text message telling you to register it, you are probably OK. I dont know.

I suspect furinners can do it without CURP by taking passport & visa to the Telcel office.
For what it's worth, I've discussed it with many locals and none has registered, due to lack of trust in whomever is behind this move. It's going to
be interesting to see what happens at deadline if there is 50% non-compliance.

Yeah, but I think it's easier just to get the CURP. Lines are shorter at INM than they are at the Telcel office.  |

I wrote about this (and registered my phones) a couple of weeks back:

It's from a San Felipe perspective (we don't have a Telcel office, which makes it harder) but the background info applies nationwide.
Stage two will be fingerprints and iris scans.
