National Off Road Raccing Association. They were the promoters for the first Mexican 1000 in 1967 until they were asked to leave by the Mexican Gov. in early 70s, 1973 maybe. Then the Mexican Gov asked Mickey Thompson to come down and promote the Baja 1000 under his SCORE banner, I think in 1974.

The National Off Road Racing Association (the people who started off road racing in Baja, in 1967 with the Mexican 1000 (later renamed Baja 1000) and the Baja 500... until 1973.

See http://www.norra.com for details on this event that brings back Parnelli Jones, Malcolm Smith and Rod Hall to Baja for a 3 day Mexicali to La Paz rally in the spirit of the first Baja races!

See TW's post as well: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=44908

I think TW &, Corky 1 are some NORRA racers? I know there were others like 'bajaracer', too.

The racers will overnight there Thursday the 29th of April. Leaving in the morning of the 30th for Lereto racing around to El Arco and out to hwy 1 at Ejido Mujica on the AAA map or Las Palomas on the almanac. Transit to San Ignacio then race out to the coast and down thru La Purisma out to hwy 1 near El Rosarito. Then transit to Lereto for overnight.

It's an FIA style Cross Country Rally. Race in the dirt and time transit on the hwy sections. The hwy sections are based on the hwy speed limit plus one hour. You speed or come in late and you get a penalty.
