BAJATRIP,#4 LA BOCANA-BAHIA ASUNCION
THIS would be the last entry on this long mile trip, report. La Bocana and Bahia Asincion trps where made to explore future Baja Destination.Alot
times you end up in Place that You didn't like, for example La Erendida in BCN, we drove there to find nothing that apeals to me, so when i can I scout
locations for future vacations, thats why I only expend one day on each location. Right after my trip to La Trinidad, upon arrival we pick up camp
head back to Mex-1 had a quick lunch in the little shack name EL BURRO... and start driving to La Bocana around 4:30pm on March-24th. From the turn
off at Abreojos in Mex-1 to the town of Abreojos it took us 50 minutes of night driving, pretty straight road with a few turns, only 6 miles are not
paved yet. From AbreOjos we ask around and quickly found the road that leads to the Salitre(salt flats) i was told to follow the lights of the town all
the way to La Bocana 10 miles away...No problem we got to La Bocana and ask some girls for Blanca's house and sure enough we where pointed the right
way. You guys should off see Blancas face when she saw the whole troop. We
settle in one of the houses she is fixing for rent,a whole house for our selfs...next day we are envite for breakfast and latter on the day for lunch,
Blancas husband cook our breakfast and she made lunch, real friendly people Blanca and Les.My family really like them, we are definitely going back to
la Bocana. We meet Ignacio one of the youghts in the Bike team, he won firts place on Sundays race..We say our good bye's and promisse to come back,
and then off to meet Shari in Asuncion. the road to BA is pretty bad it remind me of the Gonzaga-Puertecitos rd...After San Hipolito the rd gets
better.. we arrive at Asuncion meet Shari and juan she show us around and then of the THE BEACH HOUSE, to rest the next day, we where suppose to wake
up early to drive to Ojo de Liebre for the whale trip..
For the trip we paid $40 for adults and $30 for kids. Our captain names was Hipolito,he told us that the whale count was low that the best time is
from January 15 to February.. but still we where able to find some whales the ride was rough due to shoopy waters(wind to blame for this), encounter a
good number of whales but hard to take pix because of the unsettle boat.. still i was able to take a few...we finish the tour and then head back to GN
to full thats when the problems started for us. It was Friday March 26, the plan was to fill the tanks at the Pemex and reach El Rosario for a easy
drive home on Saturday, but while my brother inlaw was filling up his tires, he told the guy to fill the truck with Diesel. We pay for the fuel and
before the border of BCS-BCN his truck started smoking alot, and i tought is a Ford thing, but it wasn't we pull some fuel from the tank to find out that
it was gas and not diesel, back to the Pemex where we explain the problem to the Manager to our surprise we where the second car in the same day that
had the same problem, and yes the guy at the pump made the mistake and fill the truck with unleaded, they call their mechanic drain ther gas replace
it with diesel and it was all good again we didn't have to pay for anything, but we loss a day, we end up staying in GN instaded of El Rosario..the
next Day we drove from GN all the way to Tijuana did and hour in the border and I was home in National City around 8:30 pm..

Nice photos BAJACAT, one warning though, those 6.4 liter Fords are very prone to damage from contaminated fuel, the Ford diesel forums are full of
stories from owners having their fuel system and injectors destroyed by minute amounts of water in the fuel. I am not sure how gasoline affects the
fuel system but if Ford determines there was a fuel contamination issue they will not warranty the repairs which can run north of $10k.

Bajacat, enjoyed your post and the pictures of your trip.
I saw your car in National City the other day at the middle school, is that where your kids go? My girls go to Otis, next door. We'll have to meet
